This photo was taking during the world's fair in Paris, 1900. The Eiffel tower was built as the entrance in 1889. The image is a photochrome, a colorized image made from a black and white photographic negative transferred directly onto lithographic printing plates. This process was responsible for the beautiful color postcards from the early twentieth century. There is an early map of paris in the tray and the shelf is edged in brass.
