This is a photograph of Eddie Grant who played for Cincinnati in the National League. It was taken at the Polo Grounds in NY in 1913.  I chose this photo as a quintessential image of baseball. I didn't want it to be too emblematic of any particular team, because inevitably it would often be the wrong one. The image in the tray is from an old catalog from 1914 which sold just about everything.  The shelf has a vintage yardstick on the edge, a nod to the statistics of the game. The yardstick will vary with each one.
