We all need places to gather the things we use everyday. The objects we choose for this purpose should be more than just useful. They should provide interest, even inspiration. I create pieces for this purpose using vintage and salvaged materials because of the history these materials carry and the stories they can inspire. This advertisement c1910 for Aitcheson & Co wants you to get a telescope for the upcoming arrival of Halley's comet. If you did the image in the tray is what you would have seen. The brass on the edge of the shelf and the clock parts on the top remind me an old telescope. The clock parts will vary with each one.
